It was a different second half for the Lincoln Lutheran girls basketball team Friday during the first round of the Lincoln Lutheran vacation Tournament.
Lutheran, which had just a one-point lead at halftime, outscored Raymond Central 27-7 to earn a 49-28 win.
“We just played better,” Lutheran coach Rich Olson said. “We just didn’t let them do the things they did in the first half.”
Raymond Central junior Josie Ang, who shared team-high honors with seven points, scored all of her points in the first half.
“We started to key in on her,” Olson said. “Tonight, she was their all-around player.”
Junior Sarah Wehland also had seven points for the Mustangs (5-1).
Maria Deeter led Lutheran (6-2) with 14 points and four assists. Tara Ziegelbein added 10 points and nine rebounds.
The Warriors will face Class C-1 No. 5 Fairbury in Saturday’s championship game.
Fairbury earned a 61-35 win against Louisville in the first game. The Jeffs outscored Louisville 38-18 in the second half. Paige Husa had 31 points and 18 rebounds to lead Fairbury.
“They’re undefeated. They’re highly ranked and they’re huge,” Olson said. “It’s a challenge.”
