Cisco Systems is launching a new series of Linksys Wireless-N routers for Internet users who are constantly plugged in various gadgets that require WiFi, including Internet TVs, tablets, game consoles, smartphones, and E-readers.
About 100 million such devices were sold in North America last year, all requiring wireless Internet access.
Mathieu Whelan, a senior brand manager at Cisco Systems, says the new routers were developed with a long-time customer complaint in mind: ease of installation.
The 5 new routers in this e-series line come with Cisco Connect Software, which the company says involves a three-step set-up.
“The last screen ends with ‘Congratulations, You’re now online’,” Whelan says.
The higher-end E-4200 Wireless router is aimed at users who want a well-featured router that also looks attractive.
On the inside, it featured simultaneous dual-band Wireless-N and an antenna configuration that helps give it unparalleled speed and range.
Critic reviews towards the routers have generally been positive.
The new routers should arrive on Canadian store shelves later this week.
