He exhorted researchers to be passionate about their work so that a concrete result could be achieved. He narrated in Kargil war where around 565 soldiers laid their precious lives for country because they had passion for their own country. They did not completely rely on the available technologies, therefore passion was required to attain a bigger goal in life, he added.

“Wireless sensor network is of great interest to the research community due to its promised impact on the society. Wireless sensors not only promise to influence the world by their pervasive presence in the remotest locations, but also promise distributed monitoring and control, said Dayal.

Prof Dharma P Agarwal , University of Cincinnnati, USA said that wireless communication and sensor networks (WCSN) is of great interest to the research community due to its significant promised impact on the society in the last couple of decades. He mentioned different aspects of sensors network.

Prof Anish Arora, Ohio State University, USA ,on the occasion said that now after much hype, high time has come to start actual research works on sensor networks. There are challenges in developing intelligent, distributed collaborative processing, deployment of multimodal networks of significant size that would sense and act in wide areas in an unattended and reliable manner.

Prof Radhakrishna said that a number of developments in the area of wireless communication technologies, embedded processors, semantic web, smart surroundings, network devices and sensor networks have taken place over the past nine years in the broad area of wireless communication and Sensor Networks, and these make it possible to take up real life applications. These technologies have reached a level of maturity that would allow the creation of large, reliable and pervasive services for the benefit of the society.

Prof RC Tripathi spoke on the progress made by IIIT-A in last twelve years. Prof Shekhar Verma proposed vote of thanks. Dr Manish Singh told several participants from different institutions were attending the conference.
